DEDUCTIBLE OPTIONS
- $100 Canadian = 5% discount (minimum $0, maximum $50 per person or family)
- $500 Canadian = 15% discount (minimum $0, maximum $150 per person or family)
- $1,000 Canadian = 25% discount (minimum $0, maximum $250 per person or family)
All insured must have the same deductible.
WAITING PERIOD
- if the insurance was purchased prior to arrival in Canada there is no waiting period
- if the insurance was purchased after arrival in Canada there is a waiting period as follows:
- within 60 days of arrival sickness coverage starts after 48 hours from the policy effective date
- over 61 days from arrival sickness coverage starts after 7 days from the policy effective date
PRE-EXISTING CONDITION COVERAGE
- for persons age 69 and under, pre-existing conditions are covered if stable in the 120 days prior to the policy effective date
- for persons age 70 to 79, pre-existing conditions are not covered, however coverage for pre-existing conditions can be purchased; there is a 25% surcharge – pre-existing conditions must be stable in the 120 days prior to the policy effective date
- for persons age 80 to 89, pre-existing conditions are not covered
Eligibility
you are eligible for coverage if:
- You are over the age of 14 days old and have not reached the age of 90
years at the time of application.
- You are:
- A foreign worker or a visitor to Canada with valid legal status in
Canada, or
- An immigrant awaiting provincial government health care coverage, or
- A returning Canadian not eligible for provincial government health
care plan due to an extended leave.
- The expenses you incur result from an acute, sudden and unexpected emergency.
